One of my biggest motivators was one of my old teachers who, during my review, laid it out for me:
“I get to sit in my house in my pajamas and draw all day and then the money comes.”
I’m also at my parents house and found six old moleskines. Wow. Memory lane.

I think some of the best advice I got in art school was from my fellow student Matt Howley, because I was having trouble getting into creating environments for my characters. He told me to treat environments and backgrounds as characters themselves, and to play with the qualities of them as I would with people characters. It was great advice and someday I may even implement it.
Would anyone be interested in doing a penpal exquisite corpse-y kinda doodad?
Josh Porterfield and I were at the Sherman Cafe a few weeks ago and did this exquisite corpse together in my moleskine. Mine is the bottom and his is the top, but I inked it so it’s a little slated more toward my style. Josh draws much more adorable things than I do but I am better at wrinkly people so I think we are about even.
Also since I downloaded photoshop CS2 to edit my drawings, it’s been a constant game of “is it a smudge on the scan file or a smudge on my computer screen?” Riveting!
